Let God Guide You

I was excited to go to a new church with my mom. I have had trouble finding a church that I liked and here I was going out to try another one. I was in a new outfit ready to find rest in God's word with other believers. 

I had never been there before so I put the address in my phone GPS,depending on it to guide me. Half way there my phone dies. No problem, I think, I have time to pull over and plug it in letting in charge a bit to see where to go next. 

It worked for a moment and died again. 

I had no idea where I was going or where I was at. 

I knew the general map outline, but I had no idea what the address was or how to get there. But I decided to just attempt to find it so I pulled out of the parking spot and started in that direction. 

As I was going I was attempting to get my phone to charge and turn on. It would charge just enough, I would try to turn it on and it would shut itself off again. 

I heard a voice inside of my telling me to follow the car ahead of me as it turned right and headed down the road, so I did. I followed that silver car until another voice said turn right here. Call me crazy but I did it. I drove down the road become second guessing myself and pulled into a bank parking lot, in front of "Church" Road to try my phone again. 

To No Avail. I had 10 minutes to get there and I had no idea where I was. No phone to call anyone for help so I did all I could. I prayed. 

I turned out of the bank parking lot and instead of turning right on that road as I felt called to, I went straight- my own way- I decided to turn onto a small highway when I was able to turn my phone on and see what the road the church was on "Church" Road I was just parked in front of that road!! Then there was a highway exit sign for that road so I got off and headed in the direction of the church. 

Finally with 5 minutes to spare I pulled into the church parking lot and went into worshiping my ever faithful God who guided me to church that morning. 

That mornings adventure had a much bigger lesson laid on my heart. I was depending too much on worldly things and not spending on God and his treasure. 

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, 

where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, 

where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 

for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6:19-21

His truth, and love will sustain while I was attempting to find it in places that couldn't possibly. 

Have you also been searching for love, joy, and truth in worldly things? Depending on things of this world when they are ever changing? 

"I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.

Malachi 3:6

God never changes. He has been and ever will be steadfast, faithful and present. 

All you have to do is knock on his door. 

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; 

knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; 

and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."
