Easter is Better for Gifts than Christmas.

Happy Easter All!! I hope you had an absolutely joyous Easter Sunday!

Going into this Easter with a goal of self-reflection on where I am with God and where I want to be, I came to a mind blowing realization.

I celebrate and look forward to Christmas much more than Easter. When Thanksgiving ends and the Christmas carols start, I get that warm feeling of anticipation deep down in my soul. But with Easter, it tends to sneak up on me. I know this year I was swamped with my work project that I was telling you about, that I sadly admit I didn't have much time for God. I never ceased praying to Him but admittedly Easter was in the back of my mind.

Then the thought hit me: Jesus' birth may be the time for giving in our culture but Easter is the best time for gifts.

It is the time to celebrate the biggest gift of all: Hope! God's love for us by sending his son to be the last pure living sacrifice gives us HOPE for our future, for our salvation, and for our relationship with God himself! We don't have to suffer for our sins: Jesus did that for us!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…
1 Peter 1:3

This  is the whole reason we believe, the whole reason we are called Christians!! So why do we put so much emphasis on Jesus' birth, when it is his death and resurrection that is the most important to the Christian faith? He proved himself to be the Son of God multiple times on Earth - but rising from the dead on the third day proved it to those who doubted (Peter), and proved it once and for all! This is why we believe! Oh the importance of it still stops me in my tracks. So though Christmas is important, it is this time, Easter that should be celebrated and anticipated to the Nth degree!

And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.
Romans 1:4-5

Multiple faiths believe that Jesus lived on earth, and was a good prophet, but the truth of the matter is that without his resurrection we would have no hope for eternity with God. We would still be sacrificing animals yearly to receive forgiveness of our sins!

But HE ROSE! He rose on that third day! The impossible was made possible! Giving us the hope and the best gift God could ever give: LIFE!

Jesus' birth is important but Easter, oh precious precious Easter should hold more importance in my heart, so from here on out I will be doing more to anticipate Easter because I should be more excited to remember Easter than I have been!

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
John 11:25-26
